Those of you involved in Education or Training may have heard of Operant Conditioning. This came from some experiments that Pavlov did with dogs which showed that they can be programmed so to speak, to operate in a particular way.
Well, we have these mutts as you know, and recently there was an addition to the family. See her here.
(She cute eeee?)
She's now graduated to being outside with the big dogs, who had settled into a routine. When I'm not here, Pops does them a certain way. When I first look after them on my visits home, they are so conditioned that it's hell getting them to do what I want them to do (which is run around outside the pen while I clean up their 'stuff'). Pops usually locks them up in the kennels while he cleans their 'stuff'.
So now along comes the newbie and things have to change again. Two kennels for 3 dogs and a pup means the feeding thing has to be carefully managed in order to avoid carnage. This morning, I was trying to get one of the big dogs into a kennel that she's not accustomed to being put in for feeding, and you should see, even with the nice food sitting in there waiting on her, how she backed out of going in there.
I tell you. If only children and adults could be programmed like dogs....
Posted by yamfoot at January 14, 2004 09:43 AMNice looking dog.
Posted by: Dr. D. at January 14, 2004 10:53 PMYeah. really nice looking. Whats her mother look like? Big and sturdy or kinda mawga and underfed looking? It seems to me that there are two types of shepherds, the big sturdy ones and anothe set that is slight of frame. The mawga ones I don't like.
Posted by: Mad Bull at January 15, 2004 09:30 AMNot sure what her mom looks like. The vet gave her to us. Her paws are big so I think that is an indication that she will be sturdy, similar to how the other two are (not related). Can you imagine, we now have 4 bitches living together relatively peacefully. is that a perfect world or not!!!!
