Where else can you go and see the following in the same place :-
A West Indies cricketer, a Minister of Government, a Senator/MP/Deputy Party Leader, an international model, a well known University Professor (with a girl who could pass for a schooler!) and a GM of a notable financial company?
At Quad of course - the night club recently opened by the operators of the defunct (and soon to be un-defuncted Cactus) and Asylum aka the Madhouse.
On Tuesday, I decided I was going to go Wednesday night. That's when they play my age group music - 70's and 80's. Sis opted out, however Galliwasp accompanied me but left early as she was not feeling the vibes. I decided that I had not yet used up my $500 entrance fee so dropped her home and returned solo.
Had texted (what's the past tense of 'text' as in on cell phone?) a friend to say I was there and coincidentally he was over at Hilton, so he came over with his uncle who was visiting from England. Had some company for a good while.
The music was happening, really happening. The DJs were playing all the right stuff, in all the right order. Was on mah feet for nearly 4 hours. Natch, this morning my legs are feelling the effect.
Now I had on a wedged heel pair of shoes. I observed many with stiletto heels as high as 5 inches (thank goodness I am fairly tall and don't have to bump up my height with them things), who by the end of the night were walking with bent knees. Surely that can't be good for one's back. I know definitely it not good for the uterus. Many were tilted last night.
The dancing was my exercise for the day, because after spending 2.5 hours at the gym Tuesday, I figured I should rest Wednesday to allow muscles to recover. The self conscious me wouldn't allow me to unleash all of the 'bammer type' moves that my body is capable of (just by dint of me being a rhythmic black ooman!). Watch out for when the shakey factor on my girth and butt diminshes. Skettel in yuh pweffen. (The 'pweffen' is, I think, a Trini phrase. Picked it up on this cricket website.
I was thinking last night that I am really a very cheap date, cause all I had was two glasses of water. I'm trying not to have anything after dinner, but unfortunately, because of how my legs were feeling, when I got home circa 4 am, had to eat a little something in order to down the Voltaren.
So my verdict on Quad is Two Thumbs Up. (Where are those similies when you need them?). Must go on a Friday night next to see how that vibe is.
Must go out more. Period.
Posted by yamfoot at April 8, 2004 02:46 PMIs a good thing I opted out or both of us wud be sucking down Voltaren! 4 hours indeed! I was waiting with baited breath to see who the famous ones were..what, no name dropping?
