I usually go during the day, but for some reason decided to go in the evening yesterday. Actually I know why. I wanted to do a Pilates class. After that I did the squats as you read, then some lunges (remember perky butt is the goal) and some other leg work, then 15 minutes on the elliptical runner (good machine that) at quite a fast pace for most of it (6 mph).
Went into bed around midnight, and could I fall asleep? Not for the life of me.
This morning, I have a neck ache from some of the exercises yesterday. Truth be told, I really shouldn't be doing Pilates or Yoga because I had slipped out a vertebrae in 2001 and I have never been the same. Even now, as I sit while typing this, my neck hurts, and then when I get up, I have to stand still for a while because I get dizzy. Went to some chiropractors which gave temporary relief, also went to that French rheumatologist here (that spell wrong!) which helped a bit too. Oh well, I guess I am just stuck with this discomfort.
I don't know how I am going to manage at university come August with the sitting. I remember at University of Surrey two years ago, I had to ask to sit on top of the desk in one of the classes because when they showed things on the overhead projector, I would have to tilt my head up and that gave me problems.
So don't exercise in the evening, ok? I finished my gym stint at 8:30 or thereabouts last night. Not sure if I will go today, so will try and eat better. I didn't go for 5 days last week, and sure enough, I put back on 1.5 pounds.
Posted by yamfoot at May 18, 2004 11:05 AMActually the 'French' Rheumatologist is Dutch. But anyway, I hope you get over whatever it is.
I'm an evening person for exercise. I tried the early mawnin ting once....no sah...felt tiyad and mash up whole day....and they claim it suppose to invigorate you??? Not my experience still. It does help me to sleep well though.

If possible, exercise at the same time each day. Also swimming & power walking & or jogging should be used to compliment weight training. At nights, avoid coffee or other drinks that contain cafiene. Celestial seasoning sells some herbal teas eg. Chamomile, that promotes relaxation. Also wind down before going to bed, and do not lay down untill actually ready to go to sleep.
Posted by: Yadi at May 19, 2004 06:53 AMYadi, I've come a long way where sleep is concerned, after having real problems while at school in England. This was just a one off occurrence, but thanks for the tips!
