Hospitality

Princess P will appreciate this post....

We were talking about the difference in hospitality shown in Bajan homes versus Jamaican or Trinidadian homes.

I am in St Kitts as you know, and since I landed in my friends home, I have been offered everything at regular intervals. "You want a drink?" "You want some Pumpkin Soup?" (delicious) "You want a drink?" "You're ok?" "Don't wash the dishes Yammie"....then I get my barbequed din-din with cutlery wrapped in a napkin.

Now that's hospitality. Oh, and as people came through the house tonight, they stopped, said hello and I was introduced to everybody.

oh yes, jamaicans and trinis are known to be hospitable. we were (the princess & I) giving Bajans failing grades for hospitality based on a recent experience.

not sure what has kept her out of sight....maybe too much party last night for di birthday?????

I'm here - seeming to have some connection troubles.

We take hospitality for granted - but being "hospitable" seems to mean different things in different places. For example, in T&T, it is extremely rude to refuse offered drink - not I don't drink much, and when I do, there asre some things I want to avoid - can't take the headache as my system fights to remove toxins.... - I then was told by a close sourse to refuse was rude - so I walk wid de Panadol.

Doc and Yammie - I will have MB set up the post if I have no luck tonite - which I think is going to be the case - the connection is really slow, and strange things are happening.
