No, this is not the ad for the chossle.
As I was prancing (ok, you could call it dancing) around the aerobics room with the headphones on listening to Beyonce and Sean Paul's Baby Boy, I was thinking how much fun it would be to have dance lessons on that kind of dancing. I was trying to do some of the moves like those on the video, but I needed high heels. The sneakers just weren't cutting it.
I loooooooooooooooooove to dance. When my back and knees allow it, I will dance for many hours straight. Oh, the music have to be good too, or else the vibes not good.
The gym put out a notice saying they are thinking of starting spinning classes. They need to start a Beyonce moves class. I'd be the first to sign up. Would have to buy some high heels though! How she dance in them I don't know.
Posted by yamfoot at January 23, 2005 12:01 AMHave you ever done a spinning class. I have not, but I heard they are HARD!

Posted by: jdid at January 23, 2005 09:00 AMAgreed with JDid Yammie, but hey, if Tina Turner could dance in high heels, then why not Yammie? Maybe you should practice up on high heel dancing, then offer it as a class where you teach it at the gym and make a little profit ;)
Posted by: AngryDog at January 23, 2005 11:52 AMMich, wot is spinning then?
Posted by: MB at January 23, 2005 12:49 PMWhat's spinning? Dance if you enjoy it yuh hear.
Only thing I know bout Beyonce is...baby got looks. She looks different in every picture I see of her.
it's with a special bike, and according to a friend, you ride with instructions from the teacher. It varies in intensity and as she says "you can have a virtual reality screen in front, so you look like you are climbing up a hill, at which time you would turn resistance up hard, and stand up and pedal. they can say turn right where you tilt body right, or bench press where you lean over your bust over handle on go up and down. actually the highest burning gym activity if you do it right"
so says someone who has done many spinning classes.
Posted by: Michelle at January 24, 2005 11:44 AMI'm hooked on Spinning! I've been doing it now for 2 years. I try to do as many Master Classes as possible (usually 2 to 2 1/2 hours), and I've done several Spinning Conventions when they come to town.
Fantastic workout! The intensity of the workout varies, depending on the instructor. My favorites are the endurance rides and the strength rides.
Posted by: Bally Girl at January 24, 2005 01:21 PMSpinning is for Masochists! Granted, if you get some great music, it is good, but usually for me, it is like being strapped into a torture device.
Make sure you have a proper induction - the cycle has a 45lb flywheel - which means if you make an error, there is a heavy penalty... for me it was the momentum of a clawed pedal gouging a 5 inch long trough in my shin.
Also invest in a gel seat cover and cycle shorts with padding - the seat is pretty hard on the bumsie!
Enjoy!
