Some months ago, somebody I know in Grenada forwarded an email to me with Water Therapy in the subject line. He doesn't normally forward things, so I read that email. (I don't normally read most things that are forwarded to me because my computer is my life almost, and I'm afraid of "germs" passing around).
There is something called Water Therapy which amounts to flushing your system with a ton load of water first thing in the morning. It certainly feels like a ton. You are to drink 1.5 litres of water, which amounts to 5 of my cups...could be 6 if you're using a smaller one. You should have this immediately on waking, even before brushing your teeth. Drink the glasses one after the other. They say if you're not accustomed to so much water, then drink 4 at first, and then take a 2 minute break.
Well, the first morning I tried it, about 4 mornings ago, I felt like I was going to explode! Lawks, ah feel like mi belly was ah go buss'. But I persevered and I got down all 6 glasses. Yes 6, because I thought mine was small. But I measure out the cups the next morning and I only need 5.
What happens afterwards is that you
a. go to the toilet immediately
b. don't feel like eating anything an hour, two hours...even three hours afterwards
c. you lose weight
Ok, you don't lose weight right then and there, but I've felt lighter these past couple of days. The water fills you up for the day and you don't feel like eating more.
Oh, the science behind it is this...lemme quote from the email....
How Does Pure Water Act?
>
>
> n Consuming ordinary drinking water by the right method purifies human body. It renders the colon more effective by forming new fresh blood, known in medical terms as " Haematopaises". That the mucous folds of the colon and intestines are activated by this method is an undisputed fact, just as the theory that the mucous fold produces new fresh blood.
>
>
> n If the colon is cleansed then the nutrients of the food taken several times a day will be absorbed and by the action of the mucous folds they are turned into fresh blood. The blood is all-important in curing ailments and restoring health and for this water should be consumed in a regular pattern.

> Life is Short, Just go for it
So try it nuh?
Sounds very watered down to me.....breakfast is well known to be one of (if not the most) important meals of the day. Flooding your system with water and no nutrient will probably send you off to work with a nice low blood sugar making your performance poor.
I do drink water, but have no need to flood my colon to cleanse it...it does so without the deluge on a daily basis....
My two cents....let me know how it turns out if you keep it up.

Posted by: Dr. D. at November 2, 2005 08:35 AMno no...you misunderstand.
You do eat breakfast. It's just that you wait one hour after you drink the water, and it's working just great. I feel different. Lighter.
Posted by: Michelle at November 2, 2005 06:36 PMnever heard about this but know about the warm water with lemon juice every morning to flush out your system and clear up your skin and i do it religiously and compared to my twin sister my skin is clear also i learned recently that cold water slows down your metabolism so these days i only drink warm water i did lose weight but i think its my overall new diet.
Posted by: Amelia at November 2, 2005 06:54 PMGood luck with the new plans.
Posted by: scratchie at November 3, 2005 07:53 AMHmmm.... I think I'm going to give it a whirl.
Posted by: Mad Bull at November 3, 2005 09:38 PMMy sis, drinks a cup of water at room temp. when she gets up in the mornings. I should try that, to wash out that overnight sludge. But I dring alot of water before bed, don't know why...just get thirsty at that time. So in the morns, I wake up and bold straight to the bathroom.
But what worries me about your idea, is the whole breakfast skipping thing. You need to eat breakfast, that's the most important meal of the day. Ensur you have a meak in the morning, if it's even a protein shake.
Posted by: stunner at November 4, 2005 09:12 AMHi Yamfoot-I've heard of this water therapy. But I've also heard that if you drink too much water, which your water therapy doesn't seem to require, is that too much water interferes with your electrolytes. Depletes the potassium in your body. Anyway, hope your therapy works.
Posted by: sunshine at November 4, 2005 03:34 PMAgain I say....you do eat breakfast. You just eat it one hour after you wake up!
Anyway, I am tolerating the whole heapa water first thing in the morning much better now.
I'll continue it and see where it leads me.
Posted by: Michelle at November 4, 2005 10:27 PMI tried your water trick and had bad results sadly. What do you suggest.
What happened to me was I drank 5 cups water and went to the bathroom like to suggested right away then went to work. I travel about 40 mins to get to work and had to go to the bathroom so bad after 20 mins i did not make it in time and had one hell of an accidentm I am 26 years old and this never happebnd before.
Suggestions?
Posted by: Mary at November 28, 2005 02:09 PMwake up earlier...allows the water to get out of your system and avoid accidents!
Posted by: Michelle at December 1, 2005 06:19 PMI am now getting used to drinking lots of water and it is well worth it. I used to hate water as it had little flavor but I now love it.
In the beginning it was tough to drink large amounts of water but after sticking with it I found it comes easier. All you do is spread it out over the whole day and that allows your body to handle to better. You can easily have the 6-8 cups of daily water your body should be getting by pacing yourself.
I agree that drinking 5 cups all at once in the morning, or any time for that matter, is a recipe for disaster such as what happend with Mary. Even now I could never drink that much at once. Also drinking too much too close to bed time is a bad idea. I have found that if I drink almost any amount before bed I am in trouble and cannot get through the night. I have never had any "accidents" although often quite a few close calls -:(.
Drink lots during the day unless you are not near a bathroom and not too close to bed time as you if like me will not sleep very well with bladder discomfort.
Anyone else agree???
I think that a guy perspective is needed here if I may.
I am a 25 yo male and don't understand the problems with drinking water. I can drink any amount of water any time and do not have any issues with it. I can drink 5 cups of water before bed and not even have any desire to pee in the middle of the night. I drink much water as I am as fintess buff and want to rid my body of toxins.
Whats with this silliness of accidents cause you drink water??? Are you not able to hold it are you little kids??? I dont understand, help me.
In response to the replies to my post.
First of thanlks to those who were supportive and had positive tips and to those negative comments (Robert) they are not appreciated. Guys have a mcuh better time with their bladders and it is so much easier for a guy than a girl. When you ask am I little kid you unsult me. Girls generally have smaller bladders than guys and it is much more inconvenient for us too.
I am doing better at drinking water, I am losing weight and feeling over all, great.

Lots of water is very good for you. However, caution must be exercised when drinking large amounts at once. I don't believe 5 glasses of water is too much, but it may be for some. It can cause water toxicity. A real actual problem that happens when as one person above mentioned your electrolytes get disturbed. About the person who complained that drinking so much made her have an "accident"... Well, You are an adult, you shouldn't pee your pants no matter how much you drink. Anyway, about 10 years ago, I used to drink 1.5L of water every evening and I felt so light and clean. I stopped though because it was just too much to drink at once. Now I ran across a few websites saying to try water therapy. I think I will try it. I will let you all know what happens with my health.
Thanks....
I have tried and tested. It works. I am relieved of gastric troubles, my bp is normal. Before therapy i had pain in my stomach for almost a week. After starting this therapy within 3 days the pain has vanished. I think it should be adopted by all of us to keep away from the deadly side effects of alopathic medicines which we are unaware.
