What To Look For In a King Size Bed Frame

Because king size beds have large heavy mattresses and double box springs, it is important that the bed frame provides sufficient support. Quality bed frames are usually made of wood, iron or brass. Brass beds usually have iron rails. The bed frame consists of a headboard, two side rails and a foot rail or foot board. In a king size bed frame, there should also be a center support to prevent the bed from sagging in the middle.

Inexpensive hollywood style bed frames usually do not have head boards, but have a head rail instead. These frames are usually made of light weight metal. If the metal frame is not sturdy enough, bending and twisting of frame components can occur. This can cause damage to the box springs or mattress.
